MLR Episode 22 – Crowning Champions Around MiLB

The minor league postseason is wrapping up in some of the leagues but there are still series to be settled in around the country. One thing we do know is that the Asheville Tourists won the South Atlantic League outright. So did the Lynchburg Hillcats so congrats to both of those teams. Also congratulations to the Mobile BayBears for their 2nd straight Southern League championship.

Here’s what you’ll get in this episode:

The voice of the Lynchburg Hillcats Erik Wilson joined us this week to talk about their championship season.

Sam Sigal brings us this week’s Minor League Player Promotion report.

Congratulations to longtime manager Joe Mikulik and the Asheville Tourists on their SAL Championship. It must have been Joe’s appearance on MLR earlier this season that helped fuel that championship run. This week we were joined by Doug Maurer the voice of the Tourists to talk about their run to the championship.

Mike is enjoying his time in Scottsdale, AZ in line for Giants Spring Training tickets in 2013.

Sam Sigal - Media Relations Assistant, Hickory Crawdads - A Princeton, NJ native but San Francisco born, Sam is in his first year in Hickory and second in Minor League Baseball. Sam spent the summer of 2012 as an intern with the Trenton Thunder under MLR co-host Jay Burnham. Sam graduated from Rider University with a degree in communications while serving as head student manager for the men’s basketball team. He is the self proclaimed guru of all things Rule 5 Draft and other arguably irrelevant minor league baseball information.
